A friend of mine said she saw these somewhere for sale. I've played with the stream but I don't like the sound quality on it as much as the nls player. If you guys can let me know where I can buy one, or a similar device with equivilant or better sound quality, please reply.

Hi. The NLS player isn't somethint that can be purchased. You can get one from your local library for the blind for free. I would contact your library for more info.

I hope this helps.

If someone is selling one, they are doing it illegally. Like Liz says, they are free, so why buy one? They are very easy to use and have great sound quality.

I agree with Becky. The NLS players are easy to use, and have really nice sound. If you'd want something smaller, you might consider the Stream, as you can connect the cartridges to it. I know you don't like the sound, but I've heard people playing the Stream through external speakers, which might be an option for you.

I just got my NLS player on Friday. I need to learn how to download books onto it from the internet

Slammy, go to www.bardtalk.com. They have a great frequently asked questions (FAQ) section that should answer all your questions.

As to purchasing an NLS player, why would you want to do that? If you belong to the NLS program, you get a player for free, and whenever there is a problem, you don't have to pay for repairs. You just send it back and get a free replacement. What could be better than that?

Yes, you can get the nls player for free. Boo on the ones who are selling these machines illegally. I love mine. I can put several books on my USB drive and I'm set for when I go somewhere. It is very portable even though it's not as small as the stream. The sound quality is definitely for the win. If you need help with downloading books you can read the FAQ's on the Bard Talk site that Becky suggested, or I am also willing to answer any questions.

I didn't know about that bardtalk site. As i just got my player about a month ago, it might serve a purpose.
